This project starting with the pairing of director and designers of the MFA courses at The Lir Academy. The intend of the project was to create devised theatrical performances of twelve minutes and explore the collaboration and relationship between directing and designing. Unfortunately, the project got cancelled due to COVID-19. This is some of the design process and renderings to envision how it would have become.

O Natal do Menino Maluquinho foi um concerto natalino promovido pela Universidade Positivo e é composto por uma orquestra filarmônica, o Coral da Universidade Positivo (UP) e o Grupo Vocal Positivo. O Concerto de Natal de 2016 teve como protagonista a genialidade de Ziraldo, destacando-se a ilustração sempre alegre do Menino Maluquinho. Mais de 400 instrumentistas e cantores revezam-se no palco para uma apresentação inesquecível. Unidos a esses, estão os dançarinos das danças típicas dos imigrantes que vieram a Curitiba.

The Christmas of the Menino Maluquinho was a concert promoted by Positivo University and it was composed by a philharmonic orchestra, the Positivo University Choir, and the Positivo Vocal Group. The 2016’s concert had as a protagonist the greatness of Ziraldo, highlighting his always cheerful illustrations of ‘O Menino Maluquinho’. More than four hundred musicians and singers take turns on the stage for an unforgettable evening. Joint to those were the dancers of the typical dances of the immigrants that came to Curitiba.

O Espetáculo ‘Ámilis e os Reinos do Natal’ foi uma produção com roteiro original inspirado nos clássicos natalinos, com uma nova roupagem e através da ginástica rítmica, artes circenses, ballet e teatro. O grande desafio da produção foi passar por diferentes ambientes com poucas transições, com objetos que preenchesse o grande palco e com um orçamento reduzido. Cada imagem foi criada originalmente para o espetáculo. Todo o cenário e a iluminação foram criados usando como inspiração os grandes clássicos dos Musicais da Broadway.

The ‘Amilis and the Christmas Realms’ was an original script production composed by the rhythmic Gymnastics, circus arts, ballet, and drama. The big challenge of the production was to change from a lot of places without major set changes, with great objects that filled the big stage and with a tight budget. Each image was originally created for the presentation. The set and lighting design were created using the Broadway Musicals as references.

O Global Youth Movement é um grande congresso que reune líderes de todas as partes do Brasil. Foram três dias com uma programação repleta de atividades. Nos cultos de celebração estiveram presentes grandes nomes da música cristã brasileira, tais como: Nívea Soares, Paulo César Baruk, Marcos Almeida e Laura Souguellis. O layout da iluminação, painel de LED e parte do cenário, foi desenvolvido por Israel Del Barco.

The Global Youth Movement is a great congress which get together a lot of leaders that come from various parts of Brazil. It was three whole days filled with activities. On the celebrations worship services was present great names of brazilian Christian music, such as: Nívea Soares, Paulo César Baruk, Marcos Almeida and Laura Souguellis. All the project layout of the set design, LED panel and lighting design was developed by Israel Del Barco.

O 2º Festival Gastronômico do Paraná aconteceu no final de fevereiro de 2015 no Clube Três Marias. O 2º Festival Gastronômico do Paraná foi um projeto apresentado pela Ministério da Cultura através da Lei Rouanet e foi realizado pelo Instituto Joanir Zonta e Condor. O Espetáculo foi o encerramento de uma atividade maior que foi o curso de cozinha, padaria e confeitaria oferecido pelo Instituto Joanir Zonta aberto e gratuito à comunidade.

O espetáculo contava a história de uma família portuguesa que viera ao Brasil. E como toda família possuía suas intrigas e segredos. Durante o espetáculo, os espectadores eram servidos com comidas representativas de tais culturas.

The 2º Paraná Food Festival took place on February, in the 3 Marias Club. The event was a project presented by the Brazil’s Culture Ministry through the Law for the Encouragement of culture – Rouanet Law and it was promoted by Joanir Zonta Institute and Condor. The show was a closing of a big activity that was the course of cooking, bakery and confectionery offered by Joanir Zonta Institute open and free to the community.

The show told the story of an portuguese family that immigrated to Brazil. And like every family had their intrigues and secrets. During the show, viewers were served with food representative of such cultures.

O Nataleluia, evento promovido pela Primeira Igreja Batista de Curitiba tem como objetivo representar a história do Natal, através das mais diversas formas de arte, como: danças performárticas, artes circences, música(orquestra, coral), artes cinematográficas, cenário e iluminação. O conceito da iluminação desse ano se baseava num mundo colorido proposto pelo roteiro. As músicas eram animadas e precisavam ter uma programação de acordo com esse clima ‘uplifting’. O mapa, diferente dos outros anos, foi desenhado de uma forma a ser mais simples e linear, mas sem reduzir em quantidade. O resultado final foi de um musical/show emocionante, animado e moderno.

Nataleluia is an event promoted and produced by the First Baptist Church of Curitiba every year with the purpose of representing Christmas story by an artistic way with all kind of languages, like: performing dances, circus, music (orchestra and choir), cinematic arts, lighting and set design. The concept of the lighting design of that year was based on a colorful world proposed by the script. The songs was cheerful e need that the lighting programming was according with this uplifting mood. The light plot, differently of the other years, was design to be more simple and linear without reducing the list of equipments. The final results was of an exciting, cheered up and modern musical/concert.

O Espetáculo ‘Rapunzel’ foi uma remontagem do filme ‘Enrolados’ mas com uma nova roupagem e através da ginástica rítmica, artes circenses, ballet e teatro. O grande desafio da produção foi criar vários ambientes diferentes através da projeção, iluminação e elementos cênicos a um custo baixo. Cada imagem foi criada originalmente para o espetáculo. Às usuais ‘pernas’ pretas do teatro foram adicionadas outras feitas de papel plotter 90g com a silhueta que remetesse ao cabelo feminino. Entre os elementos cênicos produzidos foram guarda-chuvas que se tornaram moitas e um barco.

The ‘Rapunzel’ was a remake of the Disney movie ‘Tangled’ but with a new view and with rhythmic Gymnastics, circus arts, ballet and drama. The big challenge of the production was to create a lot of different places throw the projection, lighting as scenic elements with a low cost. Each image was originally created for the presentation. To the well know scenic drapery called as side legs we added other legs made by white paper in a silhouette that would remember feminine hair. Among the scenic elements produced that we could list are the umbrellas that were transformed into bushes, and a boat.

O Natal de Kolody foi um concerto natalino promovido pela Universidade Positivo e é composto por uma orquestra filarmônica, o Coral da Universidade Positivo (UP) e o Grupo Vocal Positivo. O concerto foi permeado pelas obras da poetisa e professora paranaense Helena Kolody. O palco foi composto por mais de 250 pessoas compondo a orquestra e o coral. A luz mais do que simplesmente iluminar, fazia parte do cenário.

The Kolody’s Christmas was a concert promoted by Positivo University and it was composed by a philharmonic orchestra, the Positivo University Choir and the Positivo Vocal Group. The concert was involved by the work of the brazilian poetess and teacher Helena Kolody. The stage was filled with more than 250 people making part of the orchestra and choir. The light more than just light, was part of the set.

Todo ano a D.O.M – Escola de Dança e Teatro – faz um espetáculo de final de ano com uma produção própria e roteiro autoral. Esse ano foi a vez do espetáculo ‘A valsa e o anel’ um musical composto de ballet, jazz, sapateado e teatro, que se passava nos anos 50. Com o período de tempo escolhido o desafio foi passar realçar com a luz a vibração e animação desse período. Outro desafio era ter um panorama que fosse muito bem iluminado e bem distribuído, já que ele era uma peça importante no cenário.

Every year this school of dance and drama does a presentation to close the year activities, with its own production and an authoral script. This year was the “The Waltz and the Ring” a musical with ballet, jazz, tap-dancing and drama, that was set at the fifties. With the period of time set the challenge was to highlight with light the vibration an cheer of this period. Other challenge was to have a cyc very well lighted and evenly washed as it was a important part of the set design.

Todo ano o curso de Tecnologia em Produção Cênica da UFPR realiza o Seminário de Produção Cênica, que é desenvolvido pelos formandos do curso. Neste ano, na sua 4ª edição, o tema proposto foi “Autonomia Criativa”. A ambientação, cenografia, iluminação e projeção foi desenvolvida pelos alunos do curso com a colaboração de parceiros.

O evento contou com a participação das ‘Casas Abertas de Curitiba’, a instalação ‘Costura Musical’ da Lisa Simpsom, ‘Ponto Adjeto’ de Karina Marques, a exposição ‘AYITI TIMOUN – O HAITI DAS CRIANÇAS’ da fotógrafa Carol Castanho, entre outras atividades.

A Tamanduá Iluminação foi a fornecedora da Iluminação, a Lumen – Connect Net forneceu os equipamentos para a projeção do auditório e a projeção mapeada e a Reymaster forneceu as bobinas para a ambientação.

Every year the Scenic Production Technology Undergraduate Degree at UFPR produces the Scenic Production Seminar, which is developed by the students of the course. This year, in its 4th edition, the theme was “Creative Autonomy”. The decoration, set design, lighting, and projection was developed by students of the course with the collaboration of partners.

The event had the participation of ‘Casas Abertas de Curitiba’ installation ‘Musical Sewing’ Lisa Simpson, ‘Ponto Adjeto’ Karina Marques, the exhibition ‘Ayiti TIMOUN – THE HAITI OF CHILDREN’ by the photographer Carol Castanho, among others activities.

The ‘Tamanduá Iluminação’ was the supplier of Lighting, Lumen – Connect Net supplied the equipment for the projection of the auditorium and projection mapping and Reymaster provided the coils to the ambiance.

A Conferência realizada pela Igreja Comunhão Cristã ABBA aconteceu nos dias 14, 15 e 16 de Agosto de 2015. Foi montada uma grande estrutura para o evento, cerca de 290 placas de painel de LED, projeção mapeada, e para a iluminação cerca de 80 moving heads, 70 Par LEDs, entre outros aparelhos. The Conference held by ABBA Church happened on August 14th, 15th and 16th. For the event was installed a big structure for the church, almost 290 LED panel boards, mapping projection, and for lighting almost 80 moving heads, 70 led par among other equipment. See photos bellow.

A peça “Abraão – Pai de Multidões” realizada pelo Teatro Bola de Neve e apresentada entre os dias 6 a 8 de Agosto de 2015 no Teatro Fernanda Montenegro, em Curitiba. A peça foi uma reeleitura da história Bíblica de Abraão na perspectiva da vida do povo nordestino.

The play “Abraham – Father of many nations” was produced by Bola de Neve Theater and presented between 6th to August 8th on the Fernanda Montenegro Theatre in Curitiba. The play was a retelling of the Bible’s Story of Abraham but in the life perspective of the people from Brazil’s Nordeste.

O 33º Festival de Dança de Joinville, um dos maiores festivais de dança do mundo, aconteceu do dia 22 de julho a 1º de Agosto de 2015 na sua sede em Joinville no Centreventos Cau Hansen. A empresa responsável por toda a iluminação foi a Doremix Production Resources. Os dois técnicos responsáveis pela programação de toda a luz da Mostra Competitiva, foram: Edinho Rolim e Israel Del Barco. A Mostra durou oito dias e contou com a apresentação de mais de 80 Companhias Nacionais e Internacionais. Confira algumas fotos abaixo.

The 33rd Joinville’s Dancing Festival, one of the biggest dancing festival of the world happened from July 22th to August 1st of 2015 in its own place at Cau Hansen Centreventos. The Company responsable for all the lighting gear was Doremix Production Resources. The lighting programmers responsible for all the Competitive Exhibition was: Edinho Rolim and Israel Del Barco. The Exhibition lasted eight days and passed through it more than 80 National and International Companies of Dancing. Se some photos bellow.

Durante os dias 4 a 7 de Junho aconteceu na Primeira Igreja Batista de Curitiba o Louvação Global – Congresso Multiministerial Cristão 2015. Foram 4 noites de cultos especiais, além de cultos e palestras durante a manhã e a tarde. Toda a iluminação foi pré-programada em software 3D. Foram 22 músicas, cerca de 480 cues e 240 efeitos, pela GrandMA 2.

Between June 4th and 7th, First Baptist Church of Curitiba produced the “Louvação Global – Congresso Multiministerial Cristão”. It were four nights of especial worship services, and during the morning and afternoon lectures and worship services took place at the event. All the lighting was pre programmed on MA 3D Software. It were 22 songs, almost 480 cues and 240 effects on GrandMA 2.

O Ressurreto é um musical de páscoa promovido pela Primeira Igreja Batista de Curitiba. O Ressurreto 2012 teve como título ‘A Resposta’. A proposta do musical é apresentar o sentido da páscoa não apenas como a morte de Jesus Cristo, mas também a sua Ressurreição, motivo pelo qual celebramos. A apresentação contou com iluminação, teatro, dança, orquestra, coral e vídeo.

Ressurreto is an annual musical of Easter produced and promoted by the First Baptist Church of Curitiba. The purpose of the presentation is to show the true meaning of Easter not only as Christ life and death, but also his Resurrection, as the reason we celebrate. The show integrated lighting, theatre, dancing, orchestra, choir and videos.

O Espetáculo foi o encerramento de uma atividade maior que foi o curso de cozinha, padaria e confeitaria oferecido pelo Instituto Joanir Zonta aberto e gratuito à comunidade.

O espetáculo contava a história de uma família italiana que trazia em sua história as raízes da imigração italiana. E como toda família possuía suas intrigas e segredos. A cultura espanhola também era trazida em meio ao enredo. Durante o espetáculo, os espectadores eram servidos com comidas representativas de tais culturas.

The show told the story of an Italian family that brought in its history the roots of Italian immigration. And like every family had their intrigues and secrets. The Spanish culture was also brought in through the plot. During the show, viewers were served with food representative of such cultures.

O Nataleluia faz parte da tradição natalina da cidade de Curitiba. É um espetáculo que envolve música, teatro e dança. Nesta edição o propósito foi voltar às raízes do Natal e trazer os elementos tradicionais, bem como as músicas com arranjos mais natalinos. Os cenários foram ilustrações que apareciam em um painel de LED de aproximadamente 60 m².

The Nataleluia makes part of the christmas tradition in the city of Curitiba. It is a presentation that join music, dancing and theater. In this year, on its 17th edition, the purpose was to go back to the roots of Christmas and bring its traditional elements, as the songs with a christmas arrangement. The images set on the LED panel, about 60 square meter, were illustrations made for the show.

O Espetáculo Musical “OS MISERÁVEIS” é inspirado na história “Les Miserábles” de Victor Hugo, que se tornou um grande musical da Broadway, livros e várias versões de filmes. A peça conta a história de Jean Valjean, um homem que ficou 19 anos preso, e quando foi liberto mudou completamente sua vida. Teve chance de se tornar uma pessoa ruim, mas se constrange com o amor de Deus em uma igreja. Ele decidiu ser uma pessoa do bem e que viveria para ajudar os outros. O cenário foi composto de painéis pintados à mão, objetos de cena e projeções.

The “Les Misérables” Musical is inspired on the book of Victor Hugo, that become a huge success on Broadway, books and films. The play tells the story of Jean Valjean, a man that stood in prison for 19 years and when was released had his life changed. He had his chance to became a bad person, but was constrained by God’s love in one church. He decided to be a good person that would live to help others. The set design was composed by hand painted panels, scenic objects and projections.

O Espetáculo ‘A Bela Adormecida’ foi realizado pela GETFLEX Produções e aconteceu no dia 08 de Dezembro de 2014 no Teatro Positivo Grande Auditório. O Espetáculo contou a história em várias linguagens performáticas tais como Ginástica Rítmica, Circo e Ballet. O evento foi aberto com uma apresentação da ginasta Daniele Hypólito.

A intenção do projeto do cenário foi de sair do ponto comum de utilizar somente de projeções e cenários virtuais. Para emoldurar todo o palco e a projeção, foram construídos painéis utilizando quadrados de papelão reciclado, de 20 x 20 centímetros. No total foram 4.321 quadrados utilizados. Esses paineis foram iluminados com luz de LED permitindo troca de cores e efeitos durante o espetáculo. Durante o espetáculo houveram elementos cênicos que entraram em cena para compor com o cenário, tais como: os tronos da realeza, o berço, uma tela de espinhos, uma cama com dossel.

This presentation was produced by GET FLEX Productions and happened on December Eight at the Positivo Theatre Large Auditorium. The show told the story using various performing arts such as rhythmic gymnastics, circus and ballet. The event was opened with a presentation of the brazilian gymnast Daniele Hypólito.

The intention of the set design was to leave the common point of using only projections and virtual sets. To frame the entire stage and the projection screen, were built a lot of panels using squares of recycled cardboard, 20 x 20 cm. A total of 4,321 square were used. These panels were lit with LED light allowing the exchange of colors and effects for the show. During the presentation there were scenic elements that stepped in to compose with the entire design, such as royal thrones, the birthplace, a screen of thorns and a four poster bed.

A instalação foi proposta pela professora Soraya Sugayama na disciplina de Arquitetura da Cena, em conjunto com o professor Ary Giordani na disciplina de Iluminação Cênica, na Universidade Federal do Paraná. A proposta era criar uma instalação que representasse o estilo musical ‘Nova MPB’. A avaliação da instalação se daria a partir da fotografia da mesma e não da exposição física. As fotografias foram exposta posteriormente no 3º Seminário de Produção Cênica produzido pela UFPR.

O objetivo foi criar um ambiente leve e gostoso que remete ao estilo musical. O violão traz referência direta à música. O balão faz menção à música de Clarice Falcão, uma das artistas representantes da Nova MPB, ‘O que você faz pra ser feliz?’. Ao mesmo tempo traduz o voo da MPB para a Nova MPB e também se relaciona ao sentimento de liberdade. O ambiente remete ao fim de tarde.

The Installation Art was proposed by the teacher Soraya Sugayama at the class of Set Design together with teacher Ary Giordani of the Lighting Design class at Federal University of Paraná. The point was to create an installation that represent the ‘Nova MPB’ Style of Music. The evaluation should be taken by the photograph and not by the real installation. All pictures made on that class were later exposed in the 3rd Theatrical Production Seminar produced by UFPR.

The objective was to design a light and delightful place that would remember that style of music. The guitar makes a right reference to the song. The air balloon reminds us Clarice Falcão’s song, one of ‘Nova MPB’ artists, ‘What makes you happy?’. In the same time it translates the flight of the ‘MPB’ to the ‘Nova MPB’ and it also relates to the freedom feelings. The environment replaces the eventide.
