Role: Lighting Designer
Venue: Loughcrew Gardens, Co. Meath, Ireland.
Loughcrew Lightscape intends to bring joy for the Holiday season as a COVID safe experience on outdoors. The project is a celebration of the beautifully landscaped gardens in Loughcrew but at night time. The gardens are flooded with lights that enhance the beauty of the centenary collection of trees, including one of the oldest Yew tree walks in the country, designed by the lighting designer Walter Halt.
To compose with the environment and give a sense of a magical winter wonderland, several sculptures of lights were spread out around the gardens. Most of them were confectioned using recycled materials such as a chandelier made of plastic bottles and a hubcaps orb.
The design of the sculptures, their positioning and the overall feel of the experience was under Israel’s management and design.
